Our school motto “Together, we aspire, strive, and achieve” exemplifies the journey of our new school. From its early beginnings as a community vision in 2012 through to the realisation of a new purpose-built school featuring flexible and adaptable spaces conducive to contemporary teaching and learning.
There had been countless hours of consultation and collaboration required to achieve this goal with input from all members of the school and broader school community and ideas and information seeking through multiple school visits to schools from as close by as Romaine Park to as far afield as Canberra!
School Association Chairs Tim Powell, Rodney Jupp, Paul Kenny and Principal’s Chris Nichols, Mat Grining and Angela McAuliffe all playing their part in making this become a reality.
A feature of our new buildings are the increased opportunities for students and staff to collaborate and connect. Teachers are increasingly working together to plan, teach and assess, sharing best practices and resources to improve overall teaching quality for all students. This was evidenced recently by our most promising NAPLAN results in quite some time.
It was a ‘proud parent’ type moment to hear and see our courageous presenters and performers doing their personal best in front of their peers and dignitaries, including The Minister for Education the Honourable Jo Palmer. We were treated to a sneak peek of The Beauty and the Beast – Kiss From a Rose, by a select group from the production team and a cheeky performance from our Vivace Choir who sang Naughty from Matilda the Musical.
Furthermore, hearing other invited guests and family members commenting on what amazing kids we have and what a beautiful learning environment we have to teach and learn in, reinforces that we’re not being biased!
At Penguin District School, we are committed to being at the heart of our community—a place where children, educators, families and community members come together to support and uplift one another.
We look forward to fostering a nurturing environment through meaningful relationships and collaborative efforts. Our goal is to create a space where every individual feels connected, valued, and empowered. By building these strong connections, we not only enhance the educational experience, but also strengthen the fabric and future of our community.

Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/CglnfD90p1

Teacher Assistant Appreciation Week
We are thrilled to celebrate our wonderful TAs this week. The compassion, dedication, empathy and commitment they share with the students in our school is so valuable.
Here is a snippet of our wonderful TA Erin, receiving handmade flowers with words of gratitude from the students she works with.
If you bump into a TA during your time in and around our school, share your gratitude with them. Positives are what makes the world go round.
Meet some of our dedicated Breakfast Club volunteers! Therese and Judy join us most Tuesday mornings to help coordinate cheese toasties and fruit for our entire school campus. Judy, who volunteers through community connections with the Penguin Uniting Church, graciously takes time out of her day to lend a hand. Therese, a volunteer from the Penguin Catholic Church, also generously takes time away from her daily errands to support us. We are incredibly grateful for their warm smiles and unwavering commitment each week!
As part of our flexible learning program, grade 6 student, Zac, has been busy making wooden flower boxes and selling them for $10. All money raised goes back into the school’s flexible learning budget to support other projects throughout the year. Well done Zac on creating such beautiful items.
Our introduction to the Chemistry unit in Year 7 has seen the students exploring the safety in the lab and learning the names and functions of the laboratory equipment.
On Wednesday, 7B created Oobleck and explored the physical characteristics of this interesting substance. As well as a manageable mess, we created some fun memories in the lab!
The Hellyer Course Counselling evening provides an important opportunity for students who are considering or intending on enrolling at Hellyer College in 2025 to start their enrolment process.
Hellyer College staff members will be on-site at Penguin District School to meet with families to discuss subject selections and what college could look like for each student.
We must stress the importance of still attending this evening even if students are hoping to secure an apprenticeship later in the year or are still considering other schools.
