Year 11-12 News Term 2

The year continues to progress rapidly. We are currently in our second reporting period and reports to families are due to go home before the end of term.

Our students are working mathematically with converting units and are just about to focus on interpreting tables. In each case, the problems presented to them are related to real world situations, making the learning task authentic for them.

In English classes, the students have been challenged with making a speech. This is something that can be difficult for many people, so it’s certainly a time to experience growth through challenge. Global warming and climate change has been a topic of interest to develop these speeches.

In Career and Life Planning, students have investigated the inevitability of change and have looked at fixed and growth mindsets. Most recently, we’ve been looking at how we can locate and effectively use career pathway information.

One of the classes we participate in is online hosted with Virtual Learning Tasmania. Students are continuing with their Basic Road Safety modules, exploring the important considerations needed for pre- learner and learner drivers as they begin down the highway of responsible road usage.

Finally, a shout out to Sue Hughes, our Senior Secondary teacher who continues to present the students with interesting and interactive learning opportunities.

A focus for our students as we finish up this first half of the year is going to be maintaining or improving attendance. This is in accordance with our School Improvement Plan, where attendance across the entire school is a target.

Well done to everyone who has been working hard to do their best in the Year 11 and 12 classes.
