NURSERY RHYMES
Repetition, repetition, repetition!
Babies are born with brains that are ready to learn. During the first five years of life incredible brain development is occurring. With every experience, a child’s brain cells form neural connections called synapses. With repetition these synapses are stimulated and become ‘hardwired’.
Having a focus rhyme and singing it every day, provides valuable opportunities for children to build strong language connections through repeated experience. This re-visiting supports deeper connections being made and also provides a basis for skills such as prediction and adaptation.
