Assistant Principal's Report
Uniform
Penguin District School is fortunate to have a high level of compliance with our school uniform policy. Students who frequently wear full school uniform are demonstrating pride in our school, increasing their safety by being easily identifiable, promoting equality amongst their peers, and building good habits to be ready for learning on arrival to school.
Two key documents from our uniform policy are attached to today’s newsletter for your awareness. As the weather starts to cool off, it should be noted that navy blue is the required colour for long sleeve tops underneath the school polo and that our uniform expectations are from 8:20am onwards (our official start time).
If you require support to access uniform items please reach out to our public address penguin.district.school@decyp.tas.gov.au or visit the Penguin Op Shop who have uniform items available for purchase.

Headspace
In Week 9 of Term 1, we have Headspace Australia visiting for workshops with our Year 7-10 students. The content of the workshops is linked to mental fitness, resilience, and overcoming challenging situations.
In this newsletter, you will find information about an information session for parents/carers of students in Year 6-12 on Monday March 31. For those of you who are supporting teenagers at home, the session is free and titled ‘Notice, Inquire, Provide’. RSVP is required (see below for more information).
NAPLAN
Today was the conclusion of NAPLAN testing for students in Year 3, 5, 7, and 9. Teaching staff have commented on the high level of engagement and being proud of student’s willingness to give their personal best. NAPLAN testing provides the school with important data about the literacy and numeracy levels of students in our care.
Focus Value – Respect
As we move towards the end of Term 1, the opportunity presents to recognise students who frequently demonstrate the key behaviours of respect in our school with a badge and certificate. Secondary students have an assembly in Week 8 and primary students have an assembly in Week 9. We also hope that the work we do in the space is transferable to the community setting and is observable in the way they conduct themselves outside of school hours.
Yours in partnership
