Year 9-10 Japanese Class Visit Prep
During Term 2, the 9-10 Japanese class are doing a unit about Festivals and Culture. On Thursday 26 May the 9-10 Japanese class visited the Prep corridor to explain the Japanese festival Children’s Day. This event occurs in Japan on May 5 and celebrates the happiness and courage of children. Mollie read a small story to the Prep classes that explained how a carp fish used all its courage to swim upstream and became a dragon! This identifies the hope that the Japanese have that all children will grow up to be as strong as the carp fish. The 9-10 students worked in small groups with Prep students to assist them in making their own carp fish. They then gifted pre-prepared origami decorations to students.
